Questions
Who wrote Popcorn?
Popcorn was originally written by Gershon Kingsley in 1969 and re-recorded by the First Moog Quartet and Hot Butter, both bands where Gershon Kingsley was a member of.
So it's not written by insert name here?
Nope. The original is by Gershon Kingsley, but is sometimes miscredited as a duo (Gershon/Kingsley) or misspelled (there are lots of variations on how to write the name, it seems).
I have a version by insert name here which is not on your list. How is that possible?
Of course it's possible that I don't have that particular version, but be careful for the power of P2P. People sometimes put wrong names on their MP3 files, so that it seems that one song is made by someone else. For example: the Essem & Aitch version is sometimes credited as Prodigy and you can find the M & H version under Kraftwerk.
Is there sheet music for the song available?
There are some online stores which sell Popcorn sheet music. Using Google might help. But since I get a lot of requests for this, I have decided to make one myself. You can find it here in PDF and CODA format.
Why dedicate a whole website to one song?
Because I have no life. But seriously, a few years ago, the one of my favorite websites was www.popcornsong.com. It's been gone for a couple of years now, so I decided to start a new one. Plus, it's a brilliant song, of course.
Is there a ringtone version?
Since Crazy Frog is part of the Jamba company, who specializes in ringtones and phone wallpapers, it is possible to get a popcorn ringtone there. But since quite some phones don't have the facilities to get these, I made one with my Nokia composer.
Here's the transcript for Nokia phones:
